Live Action Looney Toons S Free Plotting AndFrom gag to gag, set piece to set piece, Back in Action is utterly bonkers in its logic free plotting and the constant manipulation of busy frames.A particular sequence flying through the Louvre is sublime, sublime, sublime; showcasing Warner Bros icons melding in and out of surfaces and paintings.A cartoon expanded to the cinema screen with audacity and grace. I truly miss Brendan Fraser and Im pretty sure Steve Martin used all his silliness for this one performance. Take off your nostalgia goggles, this is so much better than Space Jam. To tell you the truth, I had no idea that Joe Dante out of all people directed this work of art as I remember thinking to myself after watching. Which goes to show you: Its not enough to be way beyond other movies on a technical level. Roger Rabbit is also a good mystery and features several characters you really care about; Back in Action is a generic chase movie with no interesting characters, including the Looney Tunes. Still, there are a few standout sequences; the scene in the Louvre, with Bugs, Daffy, and Elmer jumping into different famous paintings and transforming into each art style, gets close to the vibe of a great Chuck Jones short.). When he needed us most ( Looney Tunes: Back in Action, a film infinitely better and more creative than Space Jam, which has bizarrely been canonized from a generation with misplaced nostalgic tastesme included)we turned our backs on him. It is perfect that LT:BIA can function both as an impersonal commercial product and a passionately personal auteurist statement on its own making. The success of a comedy is measured by how much it makes one laugh (first) and the styleset-upcraft of the. And also Brendan Fraser is a surprisingly charming comedic lead. But I will say what everyone is thinking, Robin Williams should have played Steve Martins character. Even better, come to think of it, just a good old fashioned eight-minute toon. As much as I loved it as a child, I almost think I can appreciate it more now due to the countless cameos, references and jokes that just flew right over my head at 6 years old. While it feels a little messy, especially at the beginning, it quickly finds its feet and cements itself in my brain as a really wonderful film. Overall its just a very fun movie, and I love the louvre sequence with all my heart. While not perfect, it is such a funny and imaginative film, it deserves to be seen, it deserves to be talked about. Dante for the longest time has been honing a style not unlike a Looney Tunes so Im guessing this film in some ways was a dream come true for him. Live Action Looney Toons S Plus Steve MartinThe movie isnt bad from Brendan Fraser and Timothy Dalton plus Steve Martin all are surprisingly funny. Along with major movie references and the fight between bugs and daffy plus the sprinkle of James Bond.
